Beyond the Twilight of a Sacred Privacy

Widespread concern is increasingly being expressed by those who have a direct involvement in the development of potential Probation Officers, about the relevance of much professional training. The purpose of this article-written primarily from a practice teacher's standpoint-is to locate the central issues around which the concern is centered and then to propose a developmental typology for appraising training needs in a complex and changing organisation.
